This course presents the physiology of pain perception, the factors of pain reaction, the attitudes toward the patient in pain which may hinder therapy, the effectiveness and limitations of pain medication, and the use of multiple noninvasive and alternative pain therapies. It provides a holistic approach to chronic pain.
Purpose and Objective
  • Identify the physiological mechanisms of pain sensation.

  • Understand how our interventions affect the mechanisms and perception of pain.

  • Effectively apply narcotic and non-narcotic analgesic drug therapy.

  • Increase your awareness of noninvasive pain therapies, methods, desired effects and possible side effects.

  • Review principles of healing that focus on reducing the inflammatory load.
