Florida legislation has changed. Two hours of domestic violence education are now required for select professionals every third biennium. This course: Domestic Violence: Meeting the Professional Challenge of A Culture Pandemic has been designed to meet that new requirement.
 
Purpose and Objective
 
It is the purpose of this course to increase your awareness of: the numbers of patients who are likely to be victims or aggressors of domestic violence; the screening procedures and risk factors which increase the likelihood for violence; and the local, statewide and national community resources available. At the completion of the course, you will be able to:
  • Define "Domestic Violence" and describe the scope of the problem.


  • Identify victims and perpetrators of domestic violence.


  • Recognize possible interventions by identifying local, state and national resources available, and by assisting the victim to form a plan for safety, when requested.

The Course meets the requirements of the Minnesota, Ohio, Nevada, District of Columbia and Kentucky Boards of Nursing, and other states by reciprocity. It is accepted through complementary board approval by the Florida Boards of Midwifery, and Dietetics and Nutrition. It is approved by the FPTA, #CE17-150967.
