Domestic Violence - An Update

Domestic Violence
An Update
Florida legislation has changed. Two hours of domestic violence education is now required for some professionals every third biennium. Our two-hour course is available now. CNAs are required to take 1 hour of domestic violence education every 2 years. This course fulfills that requirement. Many employers still require 1 hour of domestic violence education annually. This course fulfills that requirement.
Purpose and Objective
It is the purpose of this course to increase your awareness of: the numbers of patients/clients who are likely to be victims or aggressors of domestic violence; the screening procedures and risk factors which increase the likelihood for violence; and the local, statewide and national community resources available. The role and responsibility of the healthcare worker will be emphasized. At the completion of the course you will be able to:
  • Describe the scope of the problem of domestic violence.

  • Utilize screening procedures to identify victims and perpetrators of domestic violence.

  • Recognize possible interventions by identifying local, state & national resources available, and by assisting the victim to form a plan for safety, when needed.
